Summer Sitters and Their Schedules

My name is Brittany Benge and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Kentucky. I live in Lexington, Kentucky throughout the school year but will be moving to Northern, Kentucky this May through the first week of August.

I graduated from Dixie Heights High School in 2010, where I participated in many sports and activities, such as cheerleading, track, and tennis. I still love to stay busy and active, doing things like visits to local parks and zoos in my free time. I am majoring in Nursing at UK and hope to become a NICU nurse, Labor and Delivery nurse, or a Pediatric nurse. At the University of Kentucky I am a part of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Through my sorority, I have chosen to be very involved with our philanthropy, which is children’s literacy, as well as fundraising for the March of Dimes foundation, Make a Wish foundation, as well as other smaller organizations. My love for children, especially infants, has driven me to my career path. I prefer to only work during the week, but if needed I am flexible with working on the weekends. I am looking for a part time summer job, but as I mentioned before, I am pretty flexible and open! I also have my own car, so I can provide my own transportation. I love playing with and entertaining children. Whether its basketball or Barbie’s, I know how to keep them smiling!

Meet Lindsay Lyon.  She is available from May 19th to June 4th full time. And then starting June 4th - July 12th she will be taking a class Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10AM - noon. Lindsay is available full time for the next year or well anytime after July 12th.

I worked for the US Postal Service for 16 years, but quit to stay home with our now 12 year old daughter. Our youngest daughter is in 4th grade this year. I love children, and always wanted to be a teacher. By being a sitter, I get the best of their world, but on an individual level of teaching. I love to read and garden, sew, crochet, bake, and do crafts with all of my kids.

My name is Angel Boatman. I'm currently in my second year at the University of Cincinnati. I'm actively involved in my sorority, Pi Beta Phi, and live in the house. I went to St. Charles for grade school and graduated from Lima Central Catholic. I love sports. I Cheered for basketball and football and competed in the summer and winter. I enjoy traveling, the outdoors, scrapbooking, cooking and being active. I am great with children. I have 2 younger brothers ages 6 and 13, I was a nanny for a 7 year old little girl over the summer, I lived in a neighborhood full of children and babysat for different families when the parents wanted a night out, I was a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, and i work at Chuck E Cheese. Babysitters Are Family

I recently spent a weekend with the Bumpus family in Columbus, Ohio.  The Bumpus’s are good friends of ours and it is not that uncommon for us to stay with friends when we go out of town.  What makes this somewhat unusual is that the Bumpus family was one of my first babysitting jobs from my days in college at The Ohio State University.  It has been over 10 years since I last watched Wesley and Ethan but we have always remained a part of each others lives since then.

At some point during my stay with the Bumpuses I found myself chasing my three year old son around their kitchen island and was drawn back to a time ten years earlier when I did the same with Wesley when he was just mastering the skill of running.  

Now Wes is taller than me, has a brilliant mind, and is winning karate tournaments......a far cry from the little boy that ate lunchables and laughed to tears over peekaboo.

This summer I attended BabysitEase babysitter, Jessica Carter's wedding.  While I was at the wedding I met a BabysitEase family- Piyush & Jodie Zaveri- for the first time.  We've had a relationship over the phone for years now & the bride had even taken the kids for a week while the Zaveris celebrated an anniversary in Napa.  We swapped stories over dinner and I quickly realized that Jessica had become a part of their family like I had become a part of the Bumpus family.  It wasn't hard to imagine Jessica visiting the Zaveris with her own little ones running the same footpaths as she had chased their little ones.  I realized I'm creating the same opportunities for decade long friendships that far outlast a babysitting relationship.

At some point during the evening I realized that this is what makes BabysitEase great.  Sure everyone needs a night away from the kids to reconnect with their spouse or to attend that Halloween costume party but it is the role that our sitters play in the lives of our families that make our service great.  They become family.  Skipping them on the Christmas card list would be like forgetting your mom's birthday.  They help raise and grow your children into contributors to your family, your community, our world. 

Maybe that's why BabysitEase can seem magical at times.  I steer away from texting, self involved teenagers that keep the house from burning down, and I seek out the qualified women that love your kids like they were their own.  Because who doesn't need a little more love in their life?

BabysitEase Announces Babysitter of the Year Contest

As a leading family service focused on growing healthy women and families BabysitEase would like to honor the amazing women who care for the tri-state's children.  Each year BabysitEase babysitters care for hundreds of children across the tri-state area through a network of amazing women that live and work around Greater Cincinnati.  

To even be a BabysitEase babysitter requires meeting a standard of excellence that includes presenting well during an individual interview, being over 18 years of age with your own car, passing a background check and having gushing, wildly complimentary referrals from personal, professional, and childcare relationships.  In general, we hire overqualified, enthusiastic, bright women- and we are so thankful for how many of them we have gotten to work with!

Sitter Spotlight

Meet Katie Ferguson

Katie Ferguson has been babysitting for 6 years, and sitting for BabysitEase for about 2 years. Katie is from Hebron, Ky. and studying Web Design and Animation at NKU. She's interested in doing anything that deals with design after college. "I am most interested in interactive design and flash advertising," she says. But she is also interested in mission work and ministry.

 

During the past summer Katie completed an internship with Christ in Youth, where she heard about Active:Water, a nonprofit organization that brings clean water to communities in need throughout the world. She became interested when she met someone who was running a marathon to raise money for the organization. "I was striving to run on a weekly basis, and thought it would be the perfect motivation for me to run a half marathon," she explains.

Our Sitters Change the World

BabysitEase Sitters Cross Borders

BabysitEase provides families with sitters who desire to positively impact children not only here in the Cincinnati area, but also throughout the world. Two of these outstanding women will be traveling to India and Africa to help make a difference in the lives of people in those countries.  The give back attitude and love for kids is what makes these women great sitters- and it's also what drives them to cross the globe and be the change they want to see in the world.

In February 2010 Kristin Braddock (pictured top right) will join about 35 people from Crossroads Community Church and head to Mumbai, India to work alongside International Justice Mission as they rescue girls trapped into forced prostitution. Kristin will have the opportunity to show these enslaved young women love they've never felt, and bring them hope in their dire circumstances. Invisible Children, as part of a medical mission trip. While taking some time off from her pursuit of a bachelor's degree in nursing at University of Cincinnati she will work in a high-risk clinic for orphans. Jessica leaves this fall and returns in the spring, and awaits confirmation whether she'll be working in Namibia or Tanzania. Meet Jeff Perkins

BabysitEase Hires First Male Sitter!


Jeff Perkins, originally from Louisville, Ky., has been caring for children for about six years, and just recently joined the BabysitEase team after hearing about the company from a friend. Jeff originally came to Cincinnati to attend Cincinnati Christian University, and in addition to his studies he also works at Vineyard Community Church. Like many of the sitters that BabysitEase employs, Jeff stays busy with his many commitments while offering top-notch childcare service to BabysitEase families.

Erica Cone, a 20-year-old Northern Kentucky University sophomore, has a lot going on. She grew up in the Cincinnati area, near Kings Island, and attended St. Ursula Academy--which she absolutely loves. Part of the love she feels for her alma mater comes from the African travel it allowed her. St. Ursula offers a program called the Namibian Exchange, which sent her to Namibia, where, for two months, she attended Windhoek High School and volunteered at AIDS orphanages.

Cone enjoyed the program so much that she decided to take it to the next level. While attending NKU and focusing her education on women's studies, as well as organization and leadership, she received approval to add an alumni aspect to the exchange while receiving college credit. She recently hosted the Namibian students during their trip to the United States, and will travel back to Namibia herself this summer.

"In high school I got to see the social aspect," said Cone. "And now I get to go back and see the cultural aspect as well."

Before she ships off to Africa, though, she has a busy spring ahead of her. The walk she participates in to raise money for Spinal Muscular Atrophy is coming up on April 26. Her passion for finding a cure for SMA began on Halloween her freshman year of high school when she met two young children who suffer from the disease. She created such a strong bond with these children, that she decided to do something to help them.

"They inspired me," Cone said. "I have so much in my life, so why not take the time to give back and help those who can't help themselves?"

And help she did. So far the teams Cone started have raised $32,000 for SMA research.

To top it all off, Cone also works Monday through Friday at Johnson Elementary School as a School Age Childcare Leader for the Campbell County YMCA's after-school program. Somewhere in the midst of all this working and volunteering she makes time to study and babysit your children as well. We told you your children are in good hands.
