We always love to see our babysitters in action but with many babysitters in homes all across the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area it is impossible to truly grasp the childrens' lives that are being touched by our wonderful babysitters.

The word 'dog' is about the only word our 14 month old daughter can say now.  She loves dogs and lets out a squeal every time she sees one on our evening walks.  Many people love pets but some of our babysitters have allergies or are uncomfortable around your cats or dogs.  Please be sure to update your profile with any information about pets you may have added to your household.  We want to be sure your babysitter is comfortable when caring for your children.

New Year's Eve sitter rates start at $13 per hour, plus $1 for each additional child. Group sits can also be priced according to that scale, so get a few friends together for a party and share a sitter. But schedule your BabysitEase sitter now to make sure you don't miss the party.

SEVERE WEATHER POLICY REMINDER

Families can cancel due to weather conditions in the last 24 hours without any last minute cancellation fees by giving BabysitEase a call to notify.

If there is a snow emergency or school cancellation in your area, please consider the safety of the child care provider’s travel and cancel if it’s risky to have someone on the road. 

The child care providers also have the same opportunity to use discretion and should there be a snow emergency or school cancelled in their area, they may not be able to make it to the sit.  No scheduling fee refunds will be issued.

**This policy also applies to weather situations such as tornadoes warnings, etc.

BabysitEase Expands to Virginia Beach

BabysitEase Welcomes Southeastern Virginia 

BabysitEase welcomes yet another location to the rapidly expanding BabysitEase team. Located in the Virginia Beach metropolitan area, BabysitEase Southeastern Virginia is headed up by Alicia Haddigan and Beth Gibson. Alicia, a devoted and dedicated wife and mother of three boys, grew up in Southeastern Virginia and loves raising her sons in an area with such rich history and diversity.

Beth, a dedicated wife and grandmother of two boys, has always loved children and began babysitting at the age of 12, caring for her 10 busy cousins. During the last 13 years Gibson has managed after-school programs, summer camps and the hiring of hundreds of child care providers.

Growing Strong Women & Families Across the Border

BabysitEase, in conjunction with the founders' family, made a recent trip to the Door of Faith Orphanage (DOFO) in La Mision, Baja Mexico.  Our goal was the same as our business mission - to support healthy women and families.

Prior to our trip we raised funds among friends and business partners to provide the materials to support our building efforts and everyone came through in a big way.  With the funds we were able to roof two houses, replace windows and screens, fed a family for a month, and we played with some of the 115 children at the orphanage.

The first family we supported while there was Mary, the cook at DOFO, who walks every morning to the orphanage at 4:30 am to prepare healthy meals for the children and has done so for 27 years.  We were able to give Mary a new roof and perform a few minor repairs around her house.

The second woman we supported was Alison who recently moved to this rural area from Mexico City and needed a strong roof to keep the rain from dripping in on her 3 children at night.

Door of Faith is one lean, clean machine:

-Only 4% of their annual $400K budget is spent on administrative or fundraising expenses

-80 Loads of laundry are washed each day

-50% of physical donations are redistributed throughout the community to individual families

Their mission is to better their community and expand people’s world vision- rehabilitating broken, neglected children back to healthy, productive adults is just one way they do that. For the Allis family we have started a biannual tradition & we’ll be returning to DOFO in 2010- bigger vision, more impacting projects.

How to Request your Sitter

How to request your sitter when you schedule your sit:

BabysitEase knows one of the biggest struggles parents encounter with the service is working with several sitters, when they would prefer consistency with the same sitter. In order to help build relationships and increase familiarity between our sitters and our families, we are trying out a new Sitter Request Service!

When scheduling a sit, include in the Sit Comments the sitter you want to have fill the sit, as well as the date you want to hold the sit for her.

Example: "Request Jessica Plunkett or Tori Hartigan, please hold until 8/23."

The sit will be reserved for your requested sitters until the hold date. Using the example, after 6 p.m. on August 23, all sitters will be permitted access to the sit. Holding a sit for three days should be sufficient for the sitters to have time to check their schedules.

We have been concerned that allowing these requests would negatively impact our ability to get your sit filled, but we want to make it easier for our sitters and families to stick with each other. Therefore, when you schedule sit requests of this nature we can't guarantee your sit will get filled, and will not offer any compensation for sits that don't get matched up.

We at BabysitEase hope that this new Sitter Request option will provide families and sitters with sitter request success.

Policy Reminder

When you schedule a sit with BabysitEase, you are responsible for paying your sitter for the duration of the scheduled sit.

If you return home early, you are still responsible for payment of the originally scheduled sit in its entirety. So sit back, relax and treat yourself to dessert!

Important BabysitEase Pricing Changes & Website Information

To continue good service & also maintain excellent sitters, we are adjusting some of the rates.  The new pricing changes for BabysitEase will be effective November 1, 2006.  In addition to the pricing changes, there are some things to keep in mind when booking a sit:

• When using the “Special Instruction” section on the website when you book your sit, use this section to let sitters know if they will be getting kids off the bus, doing any driving, need to bring a bathing suit, if you have pets that will be in the home, and other information you feel would be beneficial for the sitter to know prior to arriving at your home for a sit.

• Make sure that directions are updated on your profile.

• Check holiday dates online – Holidays also include high demand days like Bengals games and other city-wide events.  These holidays can be found on the pricing page.

• Be careful when scheduling sit time online. Even if your sit ends up being shorter than what was scheduled, you will be responsible to pay the sitter for the time that was scheduled      online at the time of the sit booking.

Pricing changes effective November 1, 2006:

• Cancellation within 24 hours of a scheduled sit: $25
• Change in sit times within 48 hours of sit: $8
• Guest Registrant (out of town visitor needing a sitter): $15/hr to watch 1 child,  $1/hr each additional child
• After midnight and Holidays: $1 additional per hour (Same as present policy)
• Group Sits are sits where children from more than 1 family will be cared for (more than 5 children will more than 1 sitter): $12/hr
• Minimum number of hours for a sit is now 3 hours.
• Standard Rates Paid to Sitters: 1-2 children ($8/hr), $1 p/hr each additional child (Example, 4 children would be $10/hr)

BabysitEase Cincinnati Team Expanding!

Recently, we had a chance to catch up with Laura Kremer.  This key member of the BabysitEase Cincinnati team shares a little bit about herself and how she came to be a part of the BabysitEase Cincinnati family.

Reporter: Welcome, Laura and welcome to BabysitEase Cincinnati!  Are you from the greater Cincinnati area?

Laura: Yes, I am from Northern Kentucky.

Reporter: In what part of Greater Cincinnati do you live and how long have you been there?

Laura:  I currently live in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.  I have lived here for 15 years.

Reporter: Do you have any children and if so, could you tell us a little about them?

Laura: Brian is 14 and is brilliant!  His passions are reading, writing, and his art.  Daniel is 9 and is absolutely beautiful inside and out.  He is all boy!  Loves sports and enjoys being creative in the outdoors.  He is really exceptional in football.  And finally there is my little princess, Liliana; she is 7 months and is just a complete gift from God added to my life.

Reporter: When and how did you join BabysitEase Cincinnati?

Laura: I have been with Peggy since March of 2006 and I met her through my coffee house, Ciani's Cafe. 

Reporter:  What did you do prior to coming to BabysitEase Cincinnati? 

Laura: I was a retail manager for 16 years and then I opened a coffee house.
